Parkside Church is here to help you embrace the good news, and live your life for Jesus! If you aren't used to church, that might sound a little strange! We believe that Jesus is the son of God, that he came to earth as a man, was crucified and rose again three days later. That was pretty significant: it proved he was God, and showed that death can be defeated.
He offered eternal life to everyone who believes in him. When he rose from the dead, we got solid proof that he can make good on that offer. Even more, Jesus said eternal life really starts right away in the quality of life he gives us. This doesn't mean christians have good luck, or get tons of money or anything like that. Instead, it means that he fulfills the greatest longing of our heart: To know God. Then, by teaching us how to live, he protects us from all the hurt and nastiness we know too well.
That's the incredible news we want to help you embrace. Our church does this in three ways: Worship, Discipleship and Community.
Worship - We gather together to respond to God as a group. Part of this is singing (Which is probably what you think of when you hear the word worship), but its more than that. As we submit to God's leadership in our lives: That's Worship. At Parkside, we do this by singing, giving, praying and learning together.
Discipleship - Jesus gave us a wonderful tradition of helping others grow by doing life together with them. We want to help you connect with someone more mature in the faith who can help you grow. We've got a few opportunities to explore, including life groups, men's and women's bible studies, Celebrate Recovery and one-on-one discipleship.
Community - The christian life cannot be lived alone, but its also not always about bettering ourselves with the help of others. Truly following Jesus means putting others first, loving them, and enjoying their company. We do lots of seasonal events to help us connect and build real friendships , which continue on sunday mornings, in life groups and outside the walls of the church.
The best way to find out what we are about is to come and see. Wherever you are at in your faith, skeptic or saint, you are welcome here! We look forward to seeing you.
